Hey guys!

I was allowed only given 5 minutes to speak, so I apologize if the whole point of making the movie was not clear.

Just to be clear, the reason we made "The Katrina Myth" is to educate people outside of this area, because the way for New Orleans to get the respect it deserves is to help people see that flooding is a national issue.

But it's up to US to get the word to THEM. That's why 70 screenings of the video will occur next week in over 20 different states. And that's why levees.org will do a YouTube campaign this coming week.

@sophmom (heh, twitter semantics): Yeah. that's probably worth a post. I was just struck by the notion of blogging where the "cream rises to the top" and a blogger's site because more relevant, popular, etc as other link to it and say "hey, this blogger is on to something here." It's very similar to the way you participate in an open source project and your code contributions get recognized and you grow in reputation in that community.

Similarly, if you're not getting paid, you thrive on recognition. In open source, you want to be recognized in the README and/or CREDITS file for your contributions. With blogging, you want to be linked to or -- as happened in the NOAH scandal -- get recognized by "professionals" as a capable peer. In other words, you want reputation capital.

@HumidCity yeah. We should meet up for beverages, sometime. Looking forward to it.

It was really great to meet you despite personally trying circumstances. I would love to get coffee/beer/lunch with you sometime.

BTW, when the the new link roll goes up Nix Bits is on it, and oversight I am finally rectifying.

All my best!

Great wrap up. I'd love to hear more about the "parallels between blogger journalism and Open Source software...".

I tried to work that same Barry quote into my wrap up, but it was late and I was tired and it fell out. I also liked that he described the sediment as having been "impounded" upstream. I also will update my bookmarks when I get back to Atlanta. It was a pleasure to meet you.
