Wonder if he knows that this “part of the world” is part of the continental US
Closed Published by scotth August 31st, 2006 in KatrinaOr that this “part of the world”, is, you know, right next to that big ole state he used to be Governor of.
Oyster dissects president Bush’s recent speaches on the Gulf Coast, noting just how often he refers to the region as “that part of the world”. This is one of the things that has been continually bugging me when W talks about Katrina. This is not a gaffe. It’s an expression he consistently uses. Language is important. And the continual repetition indicates that his choice of words is a deliberate message separating and distancing the rest of the country and the Federal government from the issue.
Essential reading for today:
- Why Don’t You Quietly Rebuild and Get On With Your Lives? – “Open dialogues, especially important ones, don’t happen quietly.”
