Rising Tide

Gotta check it out.

Resume update

Somehow, two and a half years have passed since I accepted my current position and I hadn’t kept my resume up to date. I fixed that today. I had actually kept a company-internal resume somewhat up to date but my public resume has just sat here missing all the stuff I’ve done. There was actually […]

Shiny new toys

So last week we finally purchased ourselves a new laptop, an Acer Extensa 4420. We’d been putting it off for a while limping along with an old Dell Inspiron 8100 with a failing hard drive. That laptop had been pushing 5 years old. It was actually in our old house after Katrina and managed to […]

Drilling in the Gulf has real risks.

Oyster does an excellent job dissecting the now oft-repeated talking point that there were no major oil spills after Katrina and Rita. The Wall Street Journal made this claim in a recent editorial in support of expanding oil drilling to the Eastern Gulf of Mexico as well as to the Atlantic and Pacific Coasts. But […]

Crawfishin’

They can sign another document later, […]

Vicious Week

Oh Man, These past two weeks since getting back from Vegas have been brtual. I’ve had patches blow up in my face (partly because Solaris patching is still so 1995). I had a storage crunch on my NetWorker index store force me to borrow some space and mount it over NFS. Which worked great. Until […]

Up for Air

So I’ve been travelling two out of the last three weeks. I spent last week in Vegas for EMCWorld. Which I’ll detail later. I’ve had no time to really keep up with blogs or anything like that and finally skimmed my way through the morass today. During that time, Greg Peters has delivered on the […]

Ready to go home

Albuquerque is dry. The weather has been nice, but I guess I’m a sucker for that old humidity. I miss my wife. I miss my dogs. I miss my house. I don’t mind the occassional work travel, but this trip just wasn’t as productive as I’d have liked.

Quitters

Snarky. yes. It’s still okay to laugh. This picture from Jazz Fest this past weekend was taken by a friend of a friend and forwarded to me
