Ya Gotta love Saint Bernard

Last night on WWL, Phil Capo did an action report on a blind St Bernard Parish woman and her husband who had been living in the garage of their gutted home. They couldn’t get FEMA to deliver a trailer. So parish president Junior Rodriguez went and pulled a trailer from another house where it was no longer being used and moved it to the woman’s property.

FEMA officials said they were investigating Junior Rodriguez’s actions. “As it stands right now we’re looking into his actions. My concern is this: I don’t want the regular citizen to think it is okay to move their trailer. There’s safety issues involved with that, there’s legal issues involved with that,” said Armstead.

“Tell them to investigate what ever in the hell they want. I welcome them, but if they don’t have anything else to do, tell them to come help me haul trailers, and make themselves useful,” Rodriguez responded.

Wouldn’t it be great if Orleans parish leaders had just a little bit of St. Bernard’s gumption? Instead they’re still making plans about the plans they’re planning to make after they figure out what to do with the plans everyone else has already made.
